Residency & Golden Visas
Monaco residency has no legally prescribed minimum deposit or investment. The financial test is an attestation from a Monaco bank, and the bank sets the sum it regards as sufficient.
About Monacoنبذة
Monaco is a sovereign microstate on the French Riviera, recognised for upscale living, political stability and attractive tax policies, with easy connections to France, Italy and the wider EU. Residence rests on three things: accommodation in Monaco, an attestation from a Monaco bank that you have sufficient means to reside there, and a clean criminal record. Monaco law prescribes no minimum deposit or investment — the bank providing the attestation sets the sum it regards as sufficient. Accommodation may be owned or rented, so residence can follow a property purchase or a lease.
Residents are exempt from personal income tax.
Opportunities to invest in prime real estate with potential appreciation.
Advanced healthcare and educational facilities.
Leisure, cultural activities, and Mediterranean lifestyle are readily available.
Political stability and a secure economy.
Visa-free travel to Schengen countries and beyond.

No fixed sum is prescribed
Monaco law prescribes no minimum deposit or investment for residence. The Government states the financial condition simply as sufficient financial resources, evidenced by an attestation from a Monaco bank confirming that you have the means to reside in Monaco. The sum regarded as sufficient is set by the Monaco bank that provides the attestation. Figures of around €500,000 reflect typical private-banking practice rather than a legal threshold, and they vary from bank to bank.
The Government also accepts any other evidence of sufficient resources, subject to approval by the Section des Résidents.

On Monegasque citizenship
Ten years of residence, granted by individual Sovereign Ordinance at the Prince's discretion, and renunciation of your existing nationality is required. In practice Monaco is a residency, not a route to a second passport, and it should be chosen on that basis.
Your Indian passport is safe on a residency
Section 9(1) of India's Citizenship Act 1955 ends Indian citizenship only on the voluntary acquisition of another country's citizenship. Holding a residence permit, permanent residence or a long-term visa does none of that.
So every route on this page is safe to hold. What differs between countries is the endpoint — and we will tell you plainly where a route can never become a citizenship, where it can, and what taking that step would cost you.
