IRCC’s table, in full
IRCC sets the minimum at 50% of the low-income cut-off for your family size and updates it every year. The figures below are the current table, updated 7 July 2025.
| Family members | Funds you need (CAD) |
|---|---|
| 1 | 15,263 |
| 2 | 19,001 |
| 3 | 23,360 |
| 4 | 28,362 |
| 5 | 32,168 |
| 6 | 36,280 |
| 7 | 40,392 |
| Each additional member beyond 7 | 4,112 |
What IRCC accepts as proof
Official letters from every bank or financial institution where you hold an account, on letterhead, showing your name, the bank’s contact details, your outstanding debts, and for each account the number, opening date, current balance and the average balance over the past six months.
The money must be available to you both when you apply and when the visa is issued. Equity in property does not count, and you cannot borrow it from another person. The six-month average is a common weak point: a large deposit made just before applying does not raise the average much, and the officer may ask where it came from.
Common questions
How much proof of funds do I need for Canada PR?
It depends on your family size. IRCC's table (updated 7 July 2025) starts at CAD 15,263 for one person and CAD 28,362 for a family of four, plus CAD 4,112 for each family member beyond seven. IRCC updates the figures every year.
How much is Canada PR proof of funds in AED?
Multiply the CAD figure for your family size by the rate your bank quotes today. The calculator above does it for you; it does not use a built-in rate, because a stale exchange rate is a wrong number.
Who does not need proof of funds?
Proof of funds is a requirement of the Federal Skilled Worker and Federal Skilled Trades programmes. You do not need it if you are applying under the Canadian Experience Class, or if you are authorised to work in Canada and have a valid job offer.
Can I use property or a loan as proof of funds?
No. IRCC does not accept equity in real property, and you cannot borrow the money from another person. The funds must be available to you when you apply and when the visa is issued, shown in official bank letters.
Can I use my spouse's money?
If your spouse is coming with you, money in a joint account counts. Money in an account in your spouse's name only may count, but you must prove you have access to it.
Is proof of funds a fee I pay to IRCC?
No. It is money you keep in your own name to support your family when you arrive. The IRCC government fees are separate, and the calculator shows both.
