What Canada PR costs from the UAE

Two numbers decide the budget: what you pay IRCC, and what you must show but keep. Everything else is smaller than people expect.

IRCC government fees

These are IRCC's own figures for economic immigration, including Express Entry, from its fee list (page modified 21 September 2026). Each adult pays the processing fee and the right of permanent residence fee; dependent children pay a smaller fee and no right of permanent residence fee.

IRCC fees for economic immigration (CAD)
Main applicant — processing + right of permanent residence feeCAD 1,590 (990 + 600)
Spouse or partner — processing + right of permanent residence feeCAD 1,590 (990 + 600)
Each dependent childCAD 270
Biometrics — one personCAD 85
Biometrics — family of two or more applying together (maximum)CAD 170

The right of permanent residence fee (CAD 600) is the only IRCC fee refunded if you withdraw or are refused after processing starts.

Settlement funds: money you show, then keep

If you apply under the Federal Skilled Worker or Federal Skilled Trades programme, you must show IRCC that you can support your family on arrival. It is not a fee — the money stays yours — but it has to be available to you, in your name, when you apply and when the visa is issued.

Applicants under the Canadian Experience Class, and those authorised to work in Canada with a valid job offer, do not need to show it.

The costs that are not IRCC's

A language test (IELTS General Training, CELPIP or PTE Core for English; TEF or TCF for French), at the test centre's UAE price. An educational credential assessment from an IRCC-designated organisation, for each degree you claim points for. A medical examination with an IRCC panel physician in the UAE, once you are invited. Police certificates from the UAE and from every other country you have lived in for six months or more since turning 18.

Each of these is priced by the provider, not by IRCC, and providers revise their prices. Take the figure from the provider's own UAE price list on the day you book.

Professional fees, if you use an adviser, should be written down separately from all of the above. They are paid to a different party, for a different thing.

Showing settlement funds from a UAE account

IRCC wants official letters from every bank where you hold an account, showing your outstanding debts and, for each account, the opening date, current balance and the average balance over the past six months. Equity in property does not count, and the money cannot be borrowed from another person.

For Gulf applicants the six-month average is the usual weak point: a gratuity paid just before applying, or savings moved between accounts, does not build a six-month average. Plan when the funds land, not just how much there is.

Common questions

How much does Canada PR cost from the UAE?
IRCC charges CAD 1,590 per adult (processing plus the right of permanent residence fee), CAD 270 per dependent child and CAD 85 to 170 for biometrics. On top come the language test, credential assessment, medical and police certificates, priced by each provider. Settlement funds, if your programme requires them, are shown but kept.
How much is Canada PR proof of funds in AED?
Take IRCC's CAD figure for your family size — CAD 15,263 for one person, CAD 28,362 for a family of four — and convert it at your bank's rate on the day. Our calculator does it for you.
Is the right of permanent residence fee refundable?
Yes. IRCC refunds the CAD 600 right of permanent residence fee if you withdraw or your application is refused. It is the only fee IRCC refunds after it starts processing.
Do I need proof of funds if I have a job offer in Canada?
Not if you are authorised to work in Canada and have a valid job offer, or if you apply under the Canadian Experience Class. Federal Skilled Worker and Federal Skilled Trades applicants otherwise must show it.
